The Sago Show’s Lazy Taho

I made Taho with silken tofu, black sugar boba, and arnibal (syrup). Instead of using black sugar and black sugar boba, you can use brown sugar and sago pearls. I KNOW I AM THE SAGO SHOW AND I DIDN’T USE SAGO.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup of tapioca pearls or sago

  • 1/2 cup + 2 spoonfuls of brown or black sugar

  • 1 package silken tofu (I used Mori-nu Silken Soft Tofu - 12.3oz)

  • 1/2 cup water

  • Water for boiling

*Note: In the video, I didn’t steam the tofu before using it, but you may steam for 5-10 minutes for warmer, smoother taho!

Instructions

  1. Cook the tapioca pearls/sago as directed on the package. Place cooked pearls in a bowl with 2 spoonfuls of sugar, and mix.

  2. Making the arnibal: Over medium heat, add 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water. Whisk and heat for 5 minutes. The syrup should stay thin. You can also add a little more water if your syrup ends up too thick.

  3. Create your taho layers by placing scoops of silken tofu in a cup, then adding a little bit of syrup, pearls, then repeat!
